Cirrus Attends ABC Conference 2023

In July, Cirrus took part in the Association of Building Compliance (ABC) Conference 2023 in Auckland as both an exhibitor and sponsor (we kept all the attendees caffeinated, a role we took very seriously!). The conference gave us the opportunity to connect with clients, meet professionals from different backgrounds, gain insights into the latest updates in the building compliance landscape, and learn valuable lessons to apply in our everyday operations.

It was interesting learning how people from different professions view and interact with the products we supply. Fire safety emerged as a significant topic at the conference, particularly in light of the recent fatal fire at Loafer's Lodge. One important takeaway was the placement of the fire switch, as Fire and Emergency NZ recommended it be located on the left of the leftmost elevator, to provide ease of access during emergencies. Sounds simple, right? But it's these small changes that can make a huge difference during emergencies.

One of the presenters spoke about designing elevators with improved fire ratings to aid in emergency evacuations in larger buildings. This topic intrigued the audience, leading to a lively discussion. We’re keen to explore this further as we collaborate with our product manufacturers in future research and design discussions.

At Cirrus, we understand the critical role elevators play in modern life and focus on providing the following products to ensure safety and compliance:

1. Emergency Telephones: Our reliable and easy to use emergency telephones are one of the most vital pieces of safety equipment for lifts. They ensure immediate and clear communication between the user and rescue personnel.

2. Gateways: The digital gateways we supply ensure remote monitoring and diagnostics. This feature enables you to spot potential issues before they become problems, ensuring the safe and seamless operation of your elevators.

3. Braille: We strive for inclusivity in every product we offer. Hence, all our pushbuttons feature Braille, enabling visually impaired individuals to use your lifts with ease. We also stock Braille plates that adhere to any COP or landing panel where Braille is currently not present.

4. Door Sensors: Our door sensors detect obstructions, ensuring passenger safety during the entry and exit process.

5. Emergency Lighting: In case of power failures, our emPOWER lighting systems provide backup power for illumination, ensuring passenger safety and comfort.

6. Voice Annunciation: This assist individuals with visual impairments, providing floor indications and operational status.

The ABC Conference was a great way for us to showcase our products, including the brand new OPAL HD + Touch Dual Screen, and discuss the importance of lift safety. It was also a good chance to let our hair down at the FIFA Women’s World Cup themed gala dinner. Our exhibitor booth was a crowd favourite at the conference, largely due to Jahan and Steph's extensive product knowledge and great conversation. Of course, our delicious pineapple lumps might have sweetened the deal too...

Every event, chat, and new idea just fires us up more to keep doing what we do best - elevating people's lives, in more ways than one.
